Coconut Coir Blocks
Hello. I am looking for coconut coir blocks that I could use as a form of erosion control. Is this a product that you have?
Included in our supply of erosion control products is a Coir Block that is ideal for erosion and sediment control applications. It is typically made using the remaining fibers from a cured coconut husk and compacts this fibers into blocks or bales.
This coir pith is then stored for 2 to 3 years before it is ever put into use. This helps to increase its ability to control erosion and sediment in area. Pith is well known to help increase seed germination, prevent erosion and increase solid root growth.

Typically when using this type of compacted coir, units are broken down and spread over selected areas to act as a mat or layer of erosion control. Depending on which coir product you choose to use, these compacted coir products can be broken down manually or with a few gallons of water.
Standard compacted materials made from this product include either a densely packed 5:1 coir block, or a more flexible 2:1 coir bale.
- 12" L x 12" W x 6" H
- Volume consists of 2.5 cubic feet per block
- Each case comes with 4 blocks
- Breakdown of this block typically requires 6 to 7 gallons of water
- 32" x 17" W x 13" H
- Volume consists of 8 cubic feet
- Breakdown of this bale can be down manually
Both of these coir materials can help with some of the following erosion control measures:
- Seed Germination
- Stabilizing Banks to Prevent Erosion
- Solid Root Growth
