Coir Block
BioD-Medium™
This Coir Block features coir particles (pith) that have been derived from cured coconut husks and then compacted into a 5:1 blocks or a 2:1 bales. These particles are then broken down spread over areas with vegetation to facilitate root growth, seed germination, or prevent a stable and insulating cover.
To ensure that this coir pith is at its highest quality, leftover fibers have been stored for two (2) to three (3) years before they are put into use. The amount or force needed to break down these fibers depends on whether you are using a 5:1 compacted block or a 2:1 bale. The 5:1 coir block is more compacted and requires approximately six (6) to seven (7) gallons of water to break down. The more flexible 2:1 bale can be broken down manually.
Regardless of which unit you are using, the pith itself will help facilitate seed germination, prevent erosion, and ensures a more completely and solid root growth.
