Erosion Control Steep Slopes

Slope Stabilization with Erosion Control Mats

coir erosion control matQuestion: I am looking for natural erosion control steep slopes compatible. Ideally, I am looking for a natural fiber (coir) product that can be placed on a 1:1 slopes. I require about 9000 sf and will then be planting beach grass and rosa rogusa plants in the area. Would coir be able to hold up in this setting with all the plants? Would I need to cut holes in the material for the plants?

Answer: For natural erosion control on steep slopes, a great option would be one of our Coir Erosion Control Mats. These matting materials are made from the all-natural coir fiber and come in different strengths depending on the weight of each individual mat.

For steeper areas, higher strength mats such as the Coir Mat 90 or the Coir Mat 100 will offer the best support. These erosion control mats feature higher weights that can handle steep slopes or larger water flows.

Coir and Planting

This makes the vegetation process easy as plants or seeds can be planted before mat installation to grow through the weaves. Plants may also be added after the mat has been installed directly through the weave openings.
